Rosetta Stone - Or Others
Hey..
Tried to ask this earlier, but some server error happened, back didnt work so i gave up and went back to google...
However, i didnt really find the answer...
I have a rosetta stone for spanish course... Its great in all ways, except for the fact there is no way i can find, to see what the words they are saying, or the words displayed are in English...
I have issues, as some of the pictures are not really all that clear, and short of going out and buying a dictionary (Spanish) i dont know what else to do.
So does anyone know of a secret setting to enable or get the english for the words?
Or can anyone recommend a good language learning package?

I don't know anything about Rosettastone but I have done a bit of language learning over the years:
Firstly, a dictionary - if you are serious about learning you will need one. I find charity book shops a very good source of cheap but good condition dictionaries (try Oxfam in Clifton as I see that you're from Bristol). I can never have enough of them - it's useful to have a several small ones to leave in the office or around the house - they do wear out with intensive use
Other courses - for a beginner the Michel Thomas courses are good - very portable if you copy the CDs to an mp3 player.
There is no substitute for direct human interaction - evening classes, one to one sesssions are very effective. Also bear in mind that for most adult learners the most effective way to remember things is through writing them down.
Another useful tip is to try and listen to as many native pseakers as you can - internet radio stations are very useful for this.

I am going to do, as you said, get a dictionary...
Was feeling lazy, and wanted it all given to me on a plate, however, its not really hard to look a word up in a dictionary... Maybe thats what the idea is...
Have done a few more hours, have to admit, the rosetta stone discs, expensive as they are, are worth all the money, i have learnt heaps.
I have done french and evening classes and linguaphone and my level of Spanish is more or less up to scratch with my spanish, after just a few days.
I get the feeling, knowing some french has helped me learn a little quicker, some words seem to be very similar...
