XP Home. Log-in screen on boot.
During the boot sequence a log-in screen appears and things just sit until it is actioned. It asks for a password but dosn't require one as it accepts either clicking or hitting enter, without my actually entering anything.
Does someone have a simple way of fixing this?

Go to "User Accounts" via the control panel, or alternatively hold down the Windows key and tap "R" to bring up the "Run" dialog. Where it probably says "cmd", type "control userpasswords2". This brings up the "User Accounts" screen.
Untick the box called "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
