movies

So many movies out there now. The ones that come on YouTube, Metacafe etc. But they won't play properly. They stop and start, buffering etc, on all the different players I have tried. I am connected straight to the internet and other computers in the house using Wifi run just fine. Is there anything I can look at to make the movies run smoother and without breaks? Thanks in advance...

Usually jerky playback while streaming means the connection speed isn't quite up to it.
Try letting them download, or mainly download, before pushing "play". May require use of the pause button on the player.

Or download them to your PC fully before watching them.

I've noticed considerable differences in the speed from various YouTube hosting sites. As has been suggested either hit pause and allow the buffer to build up, or download and play later. I use Firefox with the "Download Helper" add-on which does the job.

I'm also using the "download helper" extension for Firefox, and BitComets' FLV player 1.4 for playback. These are only required if you want to save rather than stream the vids.
