Vista always booting in Selective startup mode
Greetings,
I have an Acer laptop with Vista home on it. Every time I start the computer it starts in Selective Startup instead of Normal startup. When I go to msconfig and check Normal startup then restart the computer, it starts with Selective Startup all the time.
Not exactly sure how to proceed from here. I was not able to dig up anything helpful on Google.
Thank you for your time.

Negative.
1-Windows loads normally. What happens is that Windows Defender blocks msconfig from starting (see 2) until I allow it to.
2-Msconfig starts automatically it seems when Selective startup is selected instead of Normal startup. When I select the Normal Startup radio button in the General tab of msonfig, it asks me if I want to restart so that the changes will take effect, I answer yes. After the reboot I'm back to point 1 above, followed by 2.
I have tried looking everywhere in Vista to find out why this is happening but without success.
Thank you.
