My browsers aren`t working !!

Except for this one. (Internet Explorer) which I completely hate !! Yesterday my Avant Browser crashed, so I fixed it like I usually do, and then it just stopped working. So I tried Opera. Doesn`t work. I downloaded Flashpeak SlimBrowser. Doesn`t work. Firefox. Doesn`t work. It says stuff like "This page cannot be displayed"
I need my regular internet back !! Someone PLEASE help me !!

Thanks.

Sounds like connection rather than browser...?

Can you send & receive email ok? Probably first thing to check.

If one browser works but others don't it is more likely to do with firewall settings than the internet connection.

Also there may be configuration settings in the browsers that are incorrect - like trying to use a long-defunct dial-up connection instead of the broadband connection.

It could also be malware, but I would expect IE6 to be the first to fail, not the last if malware were to blame!

Possibly the most sure-fire way to get everything running properly is to back up all your data, reformat the disk and do a clean install of your favourite operating system.

Yeah, my email works .. I don`t use Outlook Express, though.

What is defunct dial up?

Are there any other things I should do before I revamp my computer again?? :]

First thing to try is check the firewall settings. If one browser is working but the others aren't, as said above, that's the likely culprit.
However, your post suggests that you're no stranger to browser crashes (which should be a bit unusual) so maybe your system is a bit borked and does need re-installing.
Dial up is what we used b4 cable. In the connection options in any browser, it should appear as an option, but if you're on cable, it shouldn't be the default.
You need to back up any files/pics/downloaded programs etc that aren't part of the OS before formatting (to a second hard drive, external hard drive, or a dvd disk),and check they work from that medium.
And you'll need the OS installation disk, of course.

OK, I didnt read the question toooo closely - you can connect. If the common denominator is IE as the only working browser then I would agree with SD - check your connection settings.

First off, you shouldn't need four browsers?? Assuming you can work with one, let's say Firefox, since it's the probably the most popular after Ie, then click on on tools>options>advanced then click on connection & come back & tell us what you see.

Ok .. I usually use Avant Browser, but I`ll try Firefox .. I normally only use 2 browsers .. I just downloaded the other ones to see if they would work, which they didn`t.

Ok this is what I see for connections.

Kay, so you're on broadband Have you looked into your anti virus and firewall settings to make sure that you're not being cut off in your prime?

You might have viruses/spyware & so on but I think re-installing the operating system at this stage is a bit severe.Have a ook at what you are & are not being allowed to connect through your security stuff.

If you're on xp, then you at least have a (weak) firewall. Go Start>control panel>security>firewall & make sure your browsers can connect. After that, check for the same kind of issues through your anti virus software - Norton, Mcafee etc. If no dice, then download & run CC Cleaner & Spybot Search & Destroy (both free) & if that's no good, then I dont know you, we never met.

How do I make sure if my browsers connect? :]

I tried opening my Norton 360, but it wouldn`t open, but I`m about to run Spybot.

Scrub that, it was poor advice. Are you connecting via a modem or a router. Who is your internet service provider?

Who is your internet service provider?
AOL, given the icons on the taskbar in the screenshot above.

I would contact AOL support if I were you, oxstrawberrikiss.

I tried opening my Norton 360, but it wouldn`t open
Given all the problems you are having, I WOULD scrub the system and re-install.

Consider an alternative to AOL as well!
