Terminal Services.
Hmm, Windows XP Pro. IE7. Office 2003 - all running together in reasonable harmony.
Upgraded Office 2003 to Office 2007 Ultimate Edition and suddenly get a notice (which I didn't get when I upgraded my laptop last week) saying "Instant Seach not available. You must download <insert whatever I've forgotten here>. Would you like to download it now?".
"Yes", clicks I.
I also click on the forthcoming dowload now button to be told that the installation failed..."Ensure Terminal Services are running".
WTF are terminal services and where are they hiding in my PC? Anybody know?

Terminal Services allows you, or other users, to connect to your PC - either to use the resources remotely, or to assist you if you have a problem (i.e. see what's on your desktop).
Check Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Services, see if it's running.
If you want a reasonable search tool, Windows Desktop Search is ok, IMO.
