XP Desktop options.
I am getting a more and more cluttered DT as I add all those lovely new progs I see on here
.
I have tried the MSVDM and 'Virtual Desktop' but I cannot see that either of them allow me to set up separate DTs with their own specific icons, so for example I could have a CD/DVD editing DT or an Excel working DT.
I have either missed something in the setups for these progs or need an idea for a programme that will do this. Any help appreciated.

I don't think you can do that.
Why spoil your nice desktop with icons anyway? Half the tine it's more or less covered by apps anyway.
You could set up folders for for your different working environments in the Start menu and populate them with the shortcuts you need.
Or make a new toolbar for each environment and do the same.
