Hotfix for problems with browsing home network
If anyone has had problems with XP SP2 - after disabling the Windows firewall - and browsing their home network, then they will be interested in the following hotfix:
Here
Use this link to get a copy of the corrected browser.dll - about 1/2 way down the page, there's a link to a zip file.
To apply it, you will need to Disable the Computer Browser Service, then reboot, copy the new browser.dll to System32 and ServicePackFiles\i386 (and $NtServicePackUninstall$\i386, if it exists). It may be a good idea to rename the existing to browser.dll.bak or some such. Now enable Computer Browser Service and Start it.
Hey presto - you can browse the network!
