Can't copy images.

I used to be able to right click and 'Save image as' and have a considerable resource which I have recently copied to a DVD in anticipation of moving to a new laptop (when this one finally pops its clogs). Since copying-over my 'My Pictures' folder and its contents, I created a 'New Downloads' folder under My Pictures so that I could easily identify recently copied images, however this folder remains empty, despite following through with the instructions under 'Save image as'.
Any ideas?

Saving to the original 'Downloads' folder doesn't work either, although the system WILL recognise if the image already exists and asks if I want to overwrite, though 'nothing happens' (ie the original version remains)

Windows XP Home . . .

Hi G-CPTN,

This may or may not help you as it relates to another save image as problem but you never know they may be related.

I don't know if you use IE or Firefox but on IE it can sometimes be worth clearing out the Temporary Internet Pages Cache. Microsoft Article. (Can be slow to load).

Perhaps if you are on Firefox this may still work by clearing the cache under Privacy.

I suspect though that you are set up to empty the cache when you quit IE so this may not help.

I use Firefox (never used IE by choice for years).
I'm wondering 'what changed', as the problem commenced immediately afyter I copied-over the images to the DVD and created the new 'Download' folder, which, as I stated is totally empty . . .
It's only today that I have noticed the lack of any of my recent images.

Bugga - it's a Firefox problem. I rebooted my laptop, no change, so then I opened IE7 (!) and no problem saving images . . . .

Using Firefox 2.0.0.3 - recently downloaded (AND a recent update . . . )
Hmmmm . . .

In which case if it is Firefox you could try these two links:

Firefox Forum

Firefox support article

I don't know the full implications of following these suggestions but it might be worth backing up all your bookmarks etc. before you try anything.

I hope you get it sorted as I use Firefox as well!

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 on this laptop, and it saves images fine.

I recently changed the location it saves them to - maybe I just got lucky.
What I did was Tools - Options - Main - Save Files to - C: \Downloads - (Always; no tick in the "ask" box).

What happens if you do that?

You can also "Browse" to the folder.

Could it be that it's looking to save the images in a directory that isn't there?

I would say its downloading to the old folder and it has either recreated it or it isn't saving them anywhere.
