Video Card Driver???

Hey, i have run what seems to be a pretty good tool by nVIDIA, its says i need to install

"Video Card Driver Version (DirectX)
Your driver version number is: 6.14.10.8320"

But i cant find this as a download, i have tried google and there website, so anyone any ideas?

"FYI: Make sure you have the latest driver for your video card. Click 'Free Driver Update' and we'll direct you to your video card manufacturer."

thats what the software says, well browser, but i cant find the free link

Finding the correct and latest driver suite for either a Graphics card or Mainboard chipset can for those that are not confident with their system maintainance be a bit of a minefield as Graphics card vendors do not make it clear in their blurb what version of the driver suite they have included on the disc and also add various 'Helpful' utilties so further disguising the true nature of the product, if it is Nvidia based simply knowing the Model# is enough to get you the latest Nvidia driver suite, Nvidia have provided a number of tools to help you do this.

One that you mention simply scans your system and reports the driver suite build number you 'Currently' have installed, not the latest one.

Simplest way the locate the 'Correct' and latest drivers is to use this site.

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Selecting the correct catagory, in this case Graphics Driver will take you too a listing of supplied current models of GPU followed by the operating system.

So an example would be..... Graphics card > Geforce 8800 Series > Windows XP/Media Centre Edition. which will take you directly to the download page for the correct release of drivers for that GPU family.

Download that Suite of drivers to your desktop, click the Icon and the install begins.

One other point here, the site also has a link for the latest Microsoft DirectX version also, currently for upto and including XP it is DirectX 9c, well worth allowing this link to download a fresh copy, it will eithr update your current DirectX software or re-install a fresh copy for you.

If you still have a problem, post the make and model number and a reply will put you directly onto the correct drivers, and if you have a problem getting an ID on the card, try this little gem which will audit the contents of your PC for you and display a complete listing of all hardware and software for future reference.

Simply click the free download box, allow the ulility to install and run, only dose this once on install and then either read off the information you need, print it out or save it too file.
