Vista on 64
I installed Vista today on a laptop with a 64 BIT Processor but on the start thing on vista that tells you about the PC it says its running a 32 Bit Version...
I recon i've been done as i thought there was a 64 Bit version, but the sales guy said NO, he said one version for both 32 and 64 bits systems...
Now after installing it i am getting the feeling that this aint the case, but i cant see anything around about a different 64 bit version, or is this the issue, there is NO 64 support yet?
Help Please =)

AFAIK, there is only one CD for Vista, containing both 32 and 64 bit versions.
While you may be able to install the 64-bit version, you are unlikely to be able to use it for very much - unless you have SIGNED & CERTIFIED 64-bit drivers for all the components and peripherals and 64-bit applications.

Not true.
Vista 32 and 64 bit come on separate DVDs. If you buy Vista Ultimate both are in the box, just install the one you want. Other retail boxes and OEM disks are sold just in the 32 bit edition. If you want the 64 bit you go to the MS site and order it, entering the 32 bit version serial number. MS then cancel the authorisation for that copy and post you out the 64 bit DVD. They charge a nominal amount for P&P - see here..

ORAC,
Thanks for the correction. I had read that both were accomodated in a single distro, but it appears this was only referring to the Ultimate edition.
