Question Menu bar gone missing in Microsoft Word

After closing down normally on Friday I have launched Word (as part of microsoft office 2001) this morning and I cant see or access the menu bar. I can open documents from desktop shortcuts but they display as a whole page, I have no way of selecting File-print or View-toolbars because they arent displayed. Any ideas ?
Im running XP service pack2
Thanks in advance

Malvin,

Thanks for that, I ended up renaming the data file in the registry as per the instructions in your link. Beagle, whatever was causing the problem refused to allow me to use the alt+V option, when I tried this all that happened was that a letter v was typed in the document that I had open.
Thanks both !
