Question Trouble Getting RSS to work with PPRuNE

I can get the RSS feed to work for http://www.pprune.org/forums/external.php?type=rss2

but if I try to set up a feed for a specific forum I get informed that it is invalid
e.g., I can't add the following:
http://www.pprune.org/forums/externa...orumids=257923
or
http://www.pprune.org/forums/externa...rumids=3051587

However, I can get the following to work.
http://www.pprune.org/forums/externa...s2&forumids=46

Does anyone know what's going on? Are the forum IDs correct or are they just too long?

I am using
RSSReader v1.0.94.0 beta

From what I've read, RSS is a crazy mixture of competing standards with a Microsoft patent looming over the lot. I've stayed away from it - it sounds as hairy as Vista.

Maybe I missed the point. Often do

Thanks for your reply. Trouble was I've only just starting trying to use RSS so wasn't really sure how it all worked.
I think I've just figured it now though! I've been trying to connect to individual threads which I guess is not possible since PPRuNe would have to set up some kind of dedicated connection page for me to link to (one for each thread). (I didn't realise this was how it worked until a moment ago).
I guess this can't be done automatically (yet?)

I do seem to be able to connect to the individual forums though.
So I guess I missed the point.

Ineteresting. I am very new to RSS but if one could get an RSS feed from a specific selection of forums only, that would be quite useful.

If I understand what you are saying, this is indeed possible.

"Where can I find the RSS feed?"
At the bottom of the following page:
http://www.pprune.org/forums/faq.php...ss_syndication

The forums to which this applies can also be limited to specific guest viewable forums by adding another parameter to the URL containing the forumids as follows:
http://www.pprune.org/forums/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=123
The error I was making above was to confuse forums with threads.
