IBM Microdrive

I have been using a Fujifilm S602 Pro digital camera for over three years now in which the main storage is an IBM 512MB Microdrive (mini hard drive) . Whilst on holliers in Oman over Christmas I found I was having trouble downloading pictures to my daughter's PC and eventually was unable to download any more. The same applies now that I am home and I am left with 80 pictures on the drive which I do not want to loose. The majority of the remaining pictures show on the camera's LCD but stick at a certain point going back from the latest picture and at the first picture when showing from the oldest. 'Read Error' is the message on the LCD. There is no problem with the SmartMedia card so the Microdrive would seem to be at fault.

Does anyone have any ideas, or know of anyone who could recover the pictures as I do not want to lose the pictures of Lily (20 months) trying to stow away in our suitcase as we were packing to come home.

I used this - http://www.z-a-recovery.com/digital-image-recovery.htm - successfully a while ago in a camera card.

Might well work on a microdrive.

Let us know

Mac, thanks. I have run it once and ended up saving all the files that came out of the analysis but when I tried to view them there was no preview available.

I'll give it another go though.

You could try this too - http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/mjm...orecovery.html

So long as you don't write to the microdrive in any way you can keep on trying until you've got as much as possible of the data off.

Good luck!

MJM was the one Mac! Thanks mate. All safe and sound now. Just going to format the drive now to see if that resolves the problem.
