Disk Clean Up-Compress old files

Hello All

When I run Disk Clean Up , it says I have 200 000K odd to clean up under Compress Old Files. However, when I press OK it never sorts them all out as when I run Disk Clean Up again (straight away) then there are still 200 000K odd there?
Any ideas?

Did you check the box for compressed files? Obvious I know.. but that's all I can think of right now - you may have missed that.

Only thing I can think of is that they're protected files. Security systems, and some os files are password protected/encrypted. Bit of a long shot, but seems a possibility.

I tend to use the Microsoft Windows Live Clean Up here:

Just select the Clean Up option and see if that works.

I got you an answer (btw didn't mean to insult you with my earlier post, it's always worth to point out the obvious with these things).

*Compress Old Files

Unlike the other categories, Compress Old Files doesn't delete any files from the drive. It compresses files that Windows hasn't accessed for a specified period of time. The files are still available, but there will be a slight increase in access times because the files will be decompressed the next time they are accessed. Note that when Compress Old Files is highlighted an Options button appears. Clicking it will allow you to set the number of days to wait before an unaccessed file is compressed.

Hope that helped.
