Cannot play WMP or nero player on the TV

I have just bought a phono lead to put the PC output onto the Tv.
It works a treat in that I have a perfect copy of my desktop and a mouse and everything.
The problem is watching movies. All I get is the player skin, either Nero or mico$oft showing up, but a plain black picture therein.
The card is a Radeon 9600, latest Catalyst drivers, XP Pro, and all works great, except no Media visible.
All offers glady received.

Usually, when you wish to output the primary display of a pc to a second display, you need to "enable" it - usually a combination of pressing the function key and f5/f6. However, while this approach works with laptops, I don't really know about desktop machines.

The basic reason is I think to do with the power of the graphics adapter itself. The function key switches video to the primary display or the secondary display - but most adapters cannot display on both at the same time.

My Nvidia display adapter offers an option to auto-detect for TV displays, so could I suggest you start there? Right clicking on the desktop, and then on "properties" will bring up a dialogue box for your adapter and desktop settings.

The movies will play ok on the pc monitor, just not appearing in the 'window' of the player on the tv display. The display shows on both at the same time.

The tv is 'enabled' already. As I said, I have the desk top, moving mouse, any application I open, and even the player appear on the TV as well. It is just that the 'screen' of the player on the tv remains black...
