"no internet connection" pop up when I have!

I am connected to the internet via NTL cable broadband. It has been working fine for years: I can google, email, you name it. The little pc's LAN icon on the desktop is visible. Right click on that and the packets are flowing both ways. Speed test is good.

So what's my problem?

I just installed NTL Netguard Anti Virus, firewall etc) but it cannot seem to connect itself to the internet. Instead it returns the error message "You have no connection to the internet" when I have explorer up and running .
Running the Netguard diagnostic tool confirms there is "no internet connection". Plainly rubbish, but why? Tried disabling the netguard firewall - no difference. There are no other firewall's running. The LAN TCP/IP settings have checked normal.

I really need to get Netguard connected so it can pick up the virus updates etc. Any idea what is causing the glitch?
