NTL and wireless

Just checking to be on the safe side....

I am moving into some digs in the near future and the lady of the manor has a bundled NTL broadband/TV/Phone package. She has no problem with me adding a wireless router to her setup so that I can use my laptop and not have to share hers.

Having zilch knowledge of NTL I just wanted to check if there is anything I need to be aware of before going online and grabbing a wireless router. From the looks of it the NTL installer gave her a set top box for the tv side of things running to connections on the wall which head outside. There was also what looks like Cat 5 cabling coming from this feed as well which runs into another room where her pc sits. The network cable terminates at a wall mounted box and it looked like she had an ethernet cable plugged into her lappie. I think that was the crux of the setup anyway.

So if I am correct all I need to do is to plug the new router into her network box (and set up with her NTL settings), her laptop can then plug into the router and we will all be happy. Unless of course there are any NTL nasties that I need to know about....

Cheers in advance.

AFAIK, there aren't any gotchas.

I am with Telewest Blueyonder (same company as NTL now), and I didn't even have to spoof the MAC address of my PC when I plugged my wifi router into the cable modem.

I assume that if you are going to get a WAP/switch/router it will also have a built-in firewall.
