New Mac

Just bought a new Macbook laptop with dual Intel processor etc. Fantastic machine from all points of view.
I was surprised to find that the Apple Works suite of word-processor etc. is no longer supplied. Market forces I suppose, with MS Word having the monopoly. So I got it with the MS Office suite.
Old computer is a Mac G4 cube running on OS9.1
How do I transfer my stuff to the new Mac?
I can't do a direct link because the Cube doesn't have firewire, so I suppose I'll either e-mail everything into cyberspace and then recapture it on the new Mac, or load it onto a memory stick and transfer it.
But....will the new Mac translate docs written in Apple Works into MS Word ?
And what about my Internet favourites? On the old Mac I used MS Internet Explorer - how can I transfer favourites to Safari on the new Mac?
Or do I just print out the list and re-enter them manually on the new machine?
Any Macademic nuts out there can help?

Daedalus,

You can save Appleworks documents in MS Word format via "Save As" on the File menu. This is OK if you are just needing to convert a small number of documents. However, if you have masses of stuff to convert, you could consider either icWord or MacLinkPlusDeluxe

To import the Internet Explorer favourites to Safari as Bookmarks:
1. Copy the Internet Explorer "Favourites" file from your old computer to the MacBook.

2. Open Safari. On the File menu, select "Import Bookmarks". Locate the IE Favourites file you copied to your MacBook and select "Choose".

3. It should import the Favourites as Bookmarks to your MacBook.
