I find the 'Swiss Army Knife' approach to be the best policy..make sure you have at least QuickTime, RealPlayer and Windows Media Player (augmented by Flip4Mac for Mac users) installed. An increasing number of sites are also using Flash Player to replay video (not its original purpose), so make sure you have the latest version installed (this probably came pre-installed on your machine).

You should also consider adding DivX support and the wonderful VLC Player from Videolan. This should have you all set to be able to view 99% of web video content

Was trying to help PPP with this one but could not determine which programme my machine was using. The videolink in question ends in .html, and my IE opens straight to another page entitled 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' to run the vid. For general 'everything playing' I use the free WinAmp.

If the 'videolink' in question ends with '.html' then it can only be a URL (web address), not the video file itself. '.Html' is merely the filename extension for web page code.

It may be that the page referred to by the link contains an embedded video file that can be either be downloaded and played using one ot the applications I referred to in my earlier post; or played within the web page via an appropriate plug-in.

I'd be happy to take a look if you want to forward the link. Otherwise there's no way of determining which file type is being linked to and therefore which program/plug-in would be required to play it.

However, if you follow my advice in the previous post and install all the programs, chances are you'll be able to play it (oh and think of the whole evenings fun downloading you will have as a bonus)

Spoil sports. Gotta have a bit of fun sometimes!

But..........I have WinAmp and it usually kicks in very well - with a massive file list that seems to cover everything. But I tried another link a while ago and it locked me up again.
