The basic guide to keeping your PC healthy
Some basic hints for making your PC or laptop run more efficiently:
- Ensure you have at least 10% of your Hard Disk Drive space available
- Run a comprehensive virus check
- Run a comprehensive spyware check
- Remove all *.tmp files from the Temp directory
- Remove all applications you don't use anymore
- Remove all unnecessary applications that load on startup
- Run a full Hard Disk check
- Run a full defragment of the Hard Disk
If all this doesn't help then...
- Increase the size of the Virtual Memory Swap File
It's also worth remembering that CPU (Central Processor) runs better when it's cool. A laptop placed on a table will run 20% more efficiently than one placed on a bed or sofa for example - the vents need to expel the hot air from inside.
With this in mind, make sure that the air vents on your PC are not covered in dust, give them a clean with the hoover every so often.
Best of luck
