Just had 72hrs of nightmares!

I decided a few days ago to upgrade XP Pro ( a refresh job really) and for two days I could not get past the 'EULA' licence when pressing F8. Tried everything and everyone I knew to solve the problem. Even bought a new HDD!

Anyway, had a thought overnight and borrowed another keyboard - guess what F8 on my own k/b was faulty! One key as far as I know.

One annoying this is now that I have an F: Drive as my primary drive but 'ordered' C: Drive. Now appears I cannot change the letters - anyone any magic ideas for this?

Can't really offer much help here, but, in the absence of other replies...

I recollect some piece of shareware I saw on the ZDnet website for allocating/changing drive letters - perhaps if you do a search on their site

Go to control panel and then admin tools Pop. You can certainly reassign drive letters from there, though I am not sure about the wisdom of changing the drive with the OS on it. Others will be here as soon as the dreaded footy finishes on the box, no doubt.

for the moment, I would sit on your hands, just in case.

Pop- from Google - may help?

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223188

and

http://www.petri.co.il/change_system...windows_xp.htm

for the boot drive and

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307844/

for non-boot. Usual caveat to back up!

Good luck.

You probably had one of those modern keyboards with an "FLock" (Function Key Lock) key. You need to activate that FLock key mode in Windows setup before you get the F-anything...

Changing the drive letter of your bootable system partition in XP is a mystery.

DBTL, you are right I do have F lock. If I had realised the significance of that I would I would have F........................................................... .................

As for the drive letter. I am the victim of an MS 'conspiracy' and I am going to use F: as my OS drive - the letter will keep reminding me that Bill Gates has complete control over us. We are doomed!

Thanks for your input guys - much appreciated.
