Help Please.

I am sure this is only a simple problem, but it is so annoying, and I cannot see how to fix it.

There are currently no viruses/trojans on my computer, and I am sure it is just a setting gone out of whack, but which one?

Most times, but not every time, I open a new IE window, it opens at only about half size.

Any experts could help PLEASE..........

Next time, drag it out to max size and then close it. See if that does it.

Alternatively, switch to Firefox or Opera

I cannot see how that would work, but it seems to have.

Thank you...............

Wild overgeneralisation, but IE stores the size that it was at when it was last closed. It then opens at that size. So if you do that, you force-fix the problem.

You're not alone - I think that a few people have asked recently about how to do this.

It also stores the last position. So if you have one of these two monitor setups at home with your laptop and you have a window on the second monitor, then you take your laptop on the road without the second monitor, you can make yourself rip all your hair out trying to find the missing window.

Alternatively, switch to Firefox or Opera
Mozilla on Windows exhibits similar behaviour to that reported by planemad2. One should have an open mind wrt to software.

That now seems to have fixed it, thank you.

Still don't know what caused it though.

Maximised windows...

Right-click on the shortcut you use to open IE. Choose properties, and look at the SHORTCUT tab. In the RUN window make sure you have it set to MAXIMISED.

END OF PROBLEM.

Cheers!

OK.

Right-click on the Icon you use to open Internet Explorer. Click on CREATE SHORTCUT.

On the new icon, right-click and click on PROPERTIES. On the SHORTCUT tab make sure MAXIMIZED is set in the "RUN:" window.

Use this Icon to open Internet Explorer.

You can even delete the original Icon...even better, you can edit the title of the new icon to remove the "shortcut to..." bit!

You can even delete the original Icon
I don't think this is a good idea - the original IE icon is NOT a simple shortcut, and it has some useful features, such as right-click to bring up the IE prperties page WITHOUT opening IE.

...didn't say it was a shortcut, I said it was an Icon.

If you want it back, it is selectable by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting PROPERTIES, DESKTOP, CUSTOMIZE DESKTOP.
