Office Outlook and Hotmail

I'm completely rubbish at computers..... so please be gentle!!

I am trying to route my Hotmail and AOL e-mails through outlook.... they turn up OK but i can't seem to reply to any via outlook???

What am i doing wrong?

Found this which has a bit of blurb on hotmail and the AOL settings:

On my version of Outlook I go into Tools then accounts and then select the mail account I want to edit and paste in the smtp outgoing mail address.

For hotmail try setting the outgoing mail to the mx1.hotmail.com although it might not work as from I seem to remember hotmail doesn't work on smtp or pop3 but is a web based service so might not play ball for Outlook.

So what are the correct settings to retrieve HOTMAIL into OUTLOOK?

Try using pop3.hot.com for the incoming email setting to see if hotmail will download your messages into Outlook.

If that doesn't work there are a few other ones you can try according to the following forum:-

to get AOL you have to change some settings in office, Google AOL/outlook and it will tell you how to get it all running

Does anyone know if it is possible to import all my contacts from hotmail to MS outlook?

I don't think it is, but I have been wrong in the past
