Living in the wilderness, it has become important to see the kids by webcam. anyone know if

is a valid way of conferencing? One to one is okay, but this would add another dimention. R

Are you on dial-up or broardband? Skype is an excellent product but i would only recommend it if you have broadband unfortunitly it requires a fast connection especially for video. If you are on dial-up concider using either MS Messenger or Yahoo Messenger both of these offer video and don't require as fast a connection.

One family here, one 300+ north, and a daughter in London. they keep trying to escape from their parents!

Don't forget Windows NetMeeting - free / already part of windows - but hidden in XP (no program shortcut)

If you have XP it is located in your main drive (usually C
Program Files\Netmeeting. The name is Conf.exe

Just for info, my son uses a Mac with iChat and I have a PC. The only program I could find that will video this configuration is Trillian. Cost 25 bucks, but works a treat.
