Microsoft pulls Windows Media Player for Mac
No big deal I guess, but what the M$ Mac Business Unit 'forgot' to announce at the Macworld Expo last week (where they confirmed commitment to a further 5 years of development for MS Office for Mac), was that with the other hand they were taking away WMP Mac support; this coming shortly after the recent withdrawal of support for the Mac version of Internet Explorer.
Fear not, help is at hand. Flip4Mac is an excellent free utility that allows you to view Windows Media content via Quicktime, either through the standalone QT Player or browser plugins. Much better than all that messing around with myriad 'Can't Play' dialog boxes and the clunky, unloved Windows Media Player cranking up to display content that Safari couldn't. I'm happy to report that it all works extremely well and the experience so far is much better than that which it replaces! Hope some of you find this useful.
