E-MAIL Help Needed Pls

I have tried to set up a second e-mail address to my outlook so I should receive both my private and business e-mails, the problem is when I select my business e-mail address from the drop down menu and try to send something is does'nt send and I get this:

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.######.com', Server:
'mail.######.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 Please check
your SMTP server is set to smtp.wanadoo.co.uk. Further help is available at
http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/help/email/...oksettings.htm',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC6F

Does that make sense to anyone???

Many Thanks

Many ISP''s will only accept outgoing mail from their own account (excluding web based mail of course).

It's a pain - I have the same problem when I do some work from home, everything's fine until I try emailing from my work mail account - Tiscali (and many others) just don't allow it, although you will probably find you can receive mail OK. The only solution I can think of is if your company network has a back up dial up facility (ours still has, but I'm not sure for how long as all our locations are now connected to the net via a LAN). Create a new dial up account using their settings, and just dial in when you want to send mail.

Hope this helps.

There is a way around your smtp server problem and that is to set your pc up as a standalone smtp server. A free program for this is postcast server although i'm sure there are others about try a google

i think some ISPs will not accept emails sent from a machine with dynamic IP.

It looks as if you've set up your business email account with the SMTP server adress of your work server. The trick is to have the proper adress in the 'incoming server' box (ie. 'post.bigbusiness.com') and have your ISP's SMTP server in the 'outgoing server' box (ie. 'smtp.wanadoo.co.uk') for your business mail account. If you still get the same error message, then your ISP is not redirecting mail for some reason. Worth a try though.
