Hi chaps,
Hope you can help on this one. I can surf the net with no problems at all, but when i check ALL of my email accounts either using Outlook or Mailwasher, i get :
'network is down or DNS failed' from Mailwasher and from MS Outlook:
'xxxx(email account)xxxx' - Receiving' reported error (0x80040900) : 'The server name you entered can not be found on the network (it might be down temporarily). Please verify that you are online and that the server name is correct.'
I've got 8 email addresses with various servers, so it's not just one email provider.
I've tried switching off antivirus and my firewall but no difference. A virus scan produced no problems
I really would appreciate help on this please
Thanks for your time

Do you know the name of the mail servers you wish to connect to? eg. pop.gmail.com?
If you then try the following
Open a command prompt (Start > Run and type cmd or command for 98/95) and type the following
ping pop.gmail.com (or whatever it is)
if you get a destination host not found or any other message instead of a "Reply from..." then it looks like the DNS provided by your ISP is down or has changed..
Let me know how you get on..
