SP2's firewall...?

Evening all.

After some advice if you don't mind?

Finally installed SP2(without any major trouble!) and the firewall's default is 'off'.

Have tried the obvious ie resetting defaults but on each re-boot it reverts to off.

I appreciate it's no big deal turning it on manually but it defeats the object of automation.

I am also running ZA pro but wouldn't have thought this should affect MS's software.

Thanks in advance...

Best bet Paddy, is to set one OR the other to ON. Two firewalls might not and probably will not like each other.

Either one or the other, but not both.

The SP2 firewall isn't great, but it's much better than it's previous incarnation.

I did use ZA Pro in the past without problems alongwith a hardware FW. Still I do hear recurring mumbles of probs with ZA (probably because it isn't set up right [and it can be difficult]).

I notice the new Norton 2005 switches off the SP2 FW and does it's own thing - interesting.

Stick with ZA if it's working for you.
