P.C. shutdown problem
Hope somebody can help me with this problem.
I'm having a problem shutting down or resarting my pc.
When you hit shutdown or restart nothing happens!
I press control - alt - delete but can't see the task manager box.
Have done all the usual virus checks using house call' stinger etc
Also had a look through the shut down problem posts.
I am running windows 2000 pro & have had no problems in the past... can anybody help? nooluv......

A virus/trojan or similar often causes PC start up and shut down problems.
Try "spybot search and destroy" as i mentioned in some other posts. It picks up a lot of stuff that stinger etc. doesn't. Run it in safe mode, and clean up and then in normal mode as well.

Ok,
sounds like your PC might need serious medical attention!
My old laptop got to the point where it refused to shut down; it used to get stuck on the Win 98 shut down logo and sit there. It had a lot of dodgy things on it....namely from using *cough*kazaa*cough* (which I don't use anymore as it's illegal).
Have you run McAfee's Free Stinger? If you anti-virus is infected, which is could be this will pick it up. Are you running IE or Firefox as your browser? IE is unstable; as I mentioned before. I had some dodgy spyware and other stuff etc. on my new PC which ate Adaware and caused start up problems. I also used Trojan Hunter (available free...you don't need to buy it seems to be an everlasting trial!).

From techsupportforum, probably other threads there to help you
http://www.techsupportforum.com/show...highlight=shut
Once you spend a few weeks messing about for a solution, you start to realise a re-format would've been quicker, least that's what has happened to me in the past
