Dual Layer DVD -RW media ??????

I have a new Dual Layer DVD drive ....
I can't find any DVD-RW's - does anyone make them ?
I've found some DVD+R's (8.5gig) on www.ebuyer.co.uk but even they are £3 each ...

On a seperate note, this is my first DVD writable drive and I notice Win XP doesn't support it as it did my old CDR drive ...
i.e. I can't drag and drop to write via windows, I have to use Nero, which doesn't always write OK at the drives full speed ?

What software are most people using to write DVDs ?
I would have thought Win XP SP2 would have included an upgrade to Win XP for DVDr's ...

Dual layer media is still very expensive and not very common. Not entirely sure why though other than demand must not be very high. Around here dual layer discs can easily cost $20 per disc, while $30 will get you 10 or more regular DVD-/+R discs.

I have boxes of TDK DVD-RW @ £3.90 a box of 10 from Dabs.
Dual layer DVDs (DVD9) are DVD+R DL, although drives capable of writing the DVD+R DL format may also be able to write the DVD-R DL format if it is released.
Be careful of what you buy. Infiniti DL do not work with LaCie(NEC 3500), Verbatim do, all down to dye type.
RW DL, if only !

Panther 10.3.8 with Toast & Jam.

Thanks for the advice ...

Is their something about the format DL's work that RW's cant be made, or maybe its just early days for DL DVD drives ?

DL DVD-R's seem to work out around £5 per disc, I use reliable bulk buy 4.7gig single layer ones for around 12p each ... it doesn't add up .... maybe in a year or so DL's will catch up.

To think 700Meg on a CDR was the stuff of sci-fi only a few years ago !
