Branded PCs

Hi Chaps,

been asked by a buddy to help him out with his packard bell. He bought it spain and hence it has spanish version of XPhome installed. I am thinking of a complete format of the hard drive and then placing xp professional on it. My concerns are that some branded models don't like being modified - memories of putting extra RAM in my sisters PB and then she could never use the recovery discs supplied as it recognised the system as modified......

As far as I'm concerned this should be different as I would be reformatting and would not be bothered whether the recovery discs were of any value after that.

Any advice appreciated, as ever. What's the best way to save all of the original drivers by the way?

Cheers

This free software will tell you exactly what is on your entire hard drive, when it was installed, serial numbers and all. Maybe that will help you at least get a handle on what's in there.

Good Luck!
