Corrupted printer output

G'day All

I'm having a problem with corrupted output being sent to the printer. It's an intermittent problem that usually occurs according to Murphy's Law.

The unexpected output usually consists of the document title, application name of the generating programme and what appears to be some sort of code. For example this morning I tried to print an envelope from Word with this result...

Envelopes1m%Microsoft Word - Envelopes1m*qcld*hhg*&Pbt*e9A*K| etc.

I've tried various printer drivers including the original, no joy.
Have recently done a clean install of Win ME and reinstalled all software. Printer is a Canon BJ265SP about four years old and has been a perfect machine up till now... maybe I should just buy another? Less than $100 at the moment for a multi-function machine, almost cheaper than the ink re-fills.

Any ideas about overcoming this annoyance?

Cheers, Two Dogs

Hi Two Dogs,

Will it print from another application.. say Notepad, or Paint?

Cheers

In my experience parallel printer cables can cause this - either change it or replace it with USB.
