Cool Macs, Flight Planners & Virtual PC

I am a rusted on Mac user but I would like to install a flight planner. There is only one available for Macs which, unfortunately, does not include a data base.

It has been suggested that the flight planners commonly available in Australia can be run on Macs using Virtual PC software. I understand that there may have been problems with earlier versions of Virtual PC but that a new edition was released in October.

Now, has anyone had experience with Virtual PC on Macs and more importantly, does it handle flight planners?

Any comments would be welcome as I don't feel like committing the money for both Virtual PC and a flight planner on the basis of an experiment.
