Halo 2
Ok - not really in the spirit of the forum but..
Just in case anyone is being nagged by their offspring to buy this game for the xbox..
No1 son has been eagerly awaiting the release of the game for many months. Arrived, courtesy of Amazon at 09:00 saturday morning. Completed (on normal difficulty) by 15:00 sunday. Now, at £30 odd quid, I don't personally consider that particularly good value, and little guy is a tad disappointed as he had saved up all summer for the game himself.
Just a word of warning, and an observation...

The single player is a little short, and compared to other first person type games isn't necessarily the most exciting.
On the other hand, the multiplayer is great. Four friends playing on one XBox, or up to 16 if you link 4 XBoxes together. This is where Halo, and now Halo 2, have excelled. My friends and I had a great time the other night with Halo 2.
Playing on XBox live doesn't seem to be living up to what people thought though as you can't choose what game you want to play. When you log on, it just assigns you to a game.
Has your son had any friends over to play multiplayer yet? If not, he should. You might not like it though...

timmcat,
You need to get Mini timmcat off of those "evil" consoles and get him into PC Gaming. Now if he wants something that will keep him going, get him into an MMO.
He will have months of leveling till he makes it to the top level for his character, and then another many months of maxing out his PvP skills.
Take Care,
Richard
P.S. The latest MMO to hit the market will be World of WarCraft on the 23th of November.

Thanks Richard - problem being, when he got hold of the original Warcraft (and then an expansion pack I think) no one else could get anywhere near the PC during normal waking hours. We now strongly persuade him only to get PS2 and Xbox games, and the only reason my FS2004 is left to run at an average of 30fps is that the investment in a new video card would no doubt tempt him back to the family computer.
goates, funny you should mention that, I think he is planning a long night in with his mates who will no doubt come armed with their own controllers...

timmcat,
This I have just the thing for you, so no one else will be able to get to your computer during the waking hours:
I have been selling these things at the Flight School and they go like hot cakes.
Take Care,
Richard
P.S. They are fantastic with FS2k4.
