Question Computer clock slow...

The little clock in the bottom right of my screen runs slow.....I reset it to the correct time, and it still will be slow after about a week? This has me puzzled...

I have Windows ME, a PIII 866. I run spyware - Ad Aware, and have anti-virus and a firewall.

Any ideas, anyone??

It could be that battery on the motherboard dying. It's just a regular watch battery and it should be ok once you replaced it.

Change of battery made no dif to my PC. It still runs 5 mins slow a day. I have given up trying to figure out why and use Atomic Clock to sync it.

Do you switch the machien off or leave it on all the time?

Unlikely to be the battery if you leave the machine on all the time. If you switch off, is it loosing time whilst on or off?

lead zeppelin,

Four causes of time loss are:

Bad Clock Generator on the mobo

Antivirus Program

Virus or other Malware

WinModem
Thanks for the ideas, gents - I do leave the computer on all the time.

Maybe time to take it to a shop for a "D" check!

lead zeppelin,

I doubt the shop would do much for you. You might want to try the program from AnalogX we listed in the other clock thread that is currently running.

Take Care,
