XP problem
My kids have killed my home PC and I need to re-install XP, but I do not know the code I originally had.
Anybody know a solution to me problem?
I can get to the repair console, dont have a repair disk and trying to get it to repair my installation by itself hangs!

Is it a bundle PC from a dealer? If so you will have a system restore CD which does everything for you. If not then the sensible answer would be to buy XP - but thats the sensible answer.....

under_exposed.
You say your PC has been killed. Can you share with us some of the symptoms of being killed to see if we can sort it without you resorting to buying another copy of XP.

under_exposed,
Does your OS let you boot into Safe Mode?
Take Care,
Richard
P.S. If there is any way for you to get into Windows, I can get your Key for you.

The machine will not start windows in any mode, it just hangs on startup.
Trying the repair options also hangs it.
I have now got a "temporary" key and installed XP into another directory. I will now try and extract the original key from the previous system.dat (that should be fun!)

under_exposed,
Let us know if you have any luck extracting your CD-Key.

Richard
P.S. Mike Jenvey I have always used ViewKey to get the key when someone forgets. I do not know of any other way of getting it short of booting into Windows.
