Video Editing/DVD Burning

Have just had a large collection of old family movies transferred to DVD from cine film. Quality of transfer was good, but i have DVDs that play for several hours with no chapter breaks.
I want to copy the DVDs, editing as I go, selecting bits here and there, and then writing new DVDs with chapters for various scenes.
Can anyone recommend the best software for that job?
Thanks

stickyb,

If you are going to edit your own DVDs, I recommend:

Pinnacle Systems

More help please

Thanks for the help so far.

Bought the full version of pinnacle studio 9 as recommded. Whilst it might be good for handling unedited video, where the film is already mostly edited pinnacles desire to split everything down into scenes is cumbersome and annoying, also it can't read vob files.

Got the trial version of wombles video magic, seems great. Can handle vob files as input, easy to edit, and stores dvd format mpg2 files.

However, have not yet found a program to burn the mpg file back onto dvd as a vob etc, at least not without spending hours re-encoding it.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks

I use TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert DVD mpeg files into vob. It also allows you to insert chapters and includes a burner
