Trying To Help A Chum: Error Message
She's into gaming, I'm not; so a bit lost.
Anyone know what this is all about and any potential remedy? .....Game wont play due error message. .....I'm assuming we have a computer problem rather than a game problem (but I may well be wrong!).....
Game: CSI: DARK MOTIVES
Error Message (relayed from memory):
"Director Player Error
Object Expected
Handler Defined
#Bink Register
OK"
Thanks in anticipation.

It's either a quicktime or direct X error.
Both are apparently on disc 3 of the game and would need re-installing/upgrading to fix the error. You need version 6 of QT and version 9 of direct X.
This is according to the manufacturer's website - search the knowledge base for "director player error".
hth, and now back to my studies...

BLUE SKY THINKER,
Most game releases these days are half a game which is bug ridden. The release now and patch later. Unfortunately, this has become the industry standard.
The only problem mentioned is from the original CSI game released, which Charles quoted above. That would be the first thing I would try.
If that does not solve the problem, it would really help to have the Hardware and OS specs for her comp.
Take Care,
Richard
