I noticed after some time that the behaviour of the forum software depends on the number of pages of a thread.
If there are few pages in a thread, if you click on the number of the last page, it takes you to the top of the page, whereas if there are ten or more pages, i.e. the last page link is visible, clicking on that link takes you to the last post
if you look a the URLs, this is no big surprise :
Thread with 5 pages :
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=130237&perpage=15&pagenumber=5
Very big thread :
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=92180&goto=lastpost
Dear admins, would it be possible to have the "last post" feature added to all threads, puhleeze
PS : another strange thing :
depending on whether you are reading a thread or a forum page, clicking on the "profile" button or link opens the profile page in a new window or in the current one (Opera - didn't check with other browsers)

Bre901,
Something more useful than going to the last post in a thread you might want to see is going to the point on the thread that is new since you last were on PPRuNe.
If you had a thread with 30 posts and the last 15 were new since you were last on, it would be much more useful if the thread opened and put you at post #16 than post #30.
Take Care,
Richard

Couldn't agree more, Richard. Now was it page 577 or 574 that I last visited?
Some forums I visit have that facility, letting me know when new posts have been added, but those forums (spare me the Latin) generally don't have five hundred odd pages to troll through.

Binos,
that facility exists, the little
icon shows you that there have been new posts in a thread since your last visit.
Having said that, I do agree with you and Richard, it would be great to be able to go directly to the first new post in a thread, but I guess it's a bit more compicated to program.
Maybe if more than us three ask for it.
