XP Pro Security Updates will not install

I have Windows XP Pro. I have been unsuccessful in installing Widows XP Security Updates. When I click Install, the install window locks up, requiring that I cntl-alt-delete to close the window.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Check 6,

If installing them manually does not work, follow the thread above to make sure you do not have any malware in your computer.

Take Care,

Richard

Mike and Richard, thanks for the reminder on doing this manually. I used "safe mode" to guarantee that it would work.

I keep telling myself to get a Mac. Maybe someday.

Richard, our cities should be sister cities, plus our permanent home is up the road a piece from you.

Cheers,

Check 6,

I hope you can find time to make it down to Naples one day.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. My wife and I love St. Augustine.

Further to your recent advice on manually loading the updates on my office W2K, I must relate the sequel.

Over last week-end our system at work got clobbered with a couple of the latest virus and/or worms. The box on my desk was the only one with enough security updates to cope with the attack.

The IT guy is still trying to fix the system and is also left wondering what happened to the anti-virus program. His problem though.

The message is clear.
