Broadband! Umm.... Now what?

I’ve just had my broadband installed!
Can anyone recommend any high bandwidth sites/activities that will help convince me that my £30 a month is being well spent?

There must be a few decent broadband only sites.

Cheers,

Hi there. Have a look at the sticky on the private flying forum regarding videos. That should keep you happy for a few days

1/2 Mex,

- You're right, most of them are indecent!

I find it very useful for downloading security patches from MS, AV and anti-spyware sites.

I listen to a lot of music samples which stream pretty quickly over 512 (shortly 750 - thanks Telewest )

The speed of access and permanent availability are reason enough for me.

Being able to allow 3 fast concurrent connections is a bonus - requires router.

My kids hammer the link, too.

If we used dial-up PAYG it would cost a lot more than £30 a month!

Sorry, I lied Saab Dastard..

... - it's 768 no 750 ..

I think generally speaking broadband is good as a stress reliever - faster, more efficient, less prone to disconnects and you can enjoy Pprune's new servers too.. , listen to the radio, download trailers, etc etc. i.e. an excellent way to waste time or divert yourself from more mundane tasks such as gardening etc..

Half a Mexican,

Have a look at these...

Atom Films

Fox Films

Vitaminic Music Downloads Most of the musics a bit odd but you may find something interesting.

Top 100 Broadband Sites ...apparently.

If you're into games like Rainbow Six or UT2003/2004 you could check out America's Army. It's something like a 700MB download, but it's free. It's all onlone escept for the training you have to do before you play. Broadband also makes it easier to try out the demos of games before you buy them. Downloading mods and add-ons like new aircraft for MS Flight Sim can also take a while these days.

Thanks for the replies.

Downloading games seems like fine idea.
Anyone know any good sites for this.

Also what's the latest greatest 1st person shoot-em up these days?

Cheers,

Half a Mexican,

You could start at:

nVidia's nZone

That should stress out your Broadband Modem a little.

Take Care,

If you want online multiplayer, then you should look at Unreal Tournament 2004, America's Army (free to download and play) or one of the many WWII games like Battle Field 1942 or Call of Duty. Far Cry is the first of the new generation of first person shooters, but is has a better single player game than multi player. For single player you could try Splinter Cell.

Fileplanet has demos for just about every game you could want and hundreds of mods and other extras. If you get a membership I think they still give you a free copy of Splinter Cell and you get much faster downloads.
