XP Installation prob

Hi all,

I've decided to take a sledgehammer to a metaphorical nut & reinstall xp on one of my machines. Prob is, that although I've formatted c: & cleared out everything that was there before, the installation continually quits during the preparing installation phase with 34 minutes remaining.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

Never seen it but I would suspect the installation CD. Can you try another?

Parapunter,

Try flashing your computer's BIOS with the latest revision. Also try using another Optical Drive if the BIOS Revision does not fix the problem.

Last option would be to remove all the extra drives, PCI Cards, and USB Devices until after you finish the install and then add them back one at a time.

XP install

I had the same problem some months back and cured it by starting the re-install by running the set of XP boot disks first. End of problem for me.
