Calling France - Help!
Evening all,
I am desperately trying to get in contact with a French friend of mine who i urgently need to call back. He gave me his number as +33 6712.... (4 dots are the last 4 numbers).
So, on the BT phone at home i put in 00336712.... and the BT woman voiceover thingy says "dur dur dur, the number you have dialled has not been recognised. Please check and try again".
Anyone, please?
TIA
Henry

'Area' code 6 is a mobile phone.
Area codes are
1 = Paris region
2 = NW
3 = NE
4 = SE
5 = SW
French white pages (in English)

I guess you ended up on an answering machine.
Did you recognise your friend's voice ?
Are you sure he gave you his mobile phone number ?
Otherwise you might as well try the other area codes.
Good luck
cheers.

If it's a mobile then send various SMSs from your mobile or ISP until one comes up as "Sent" - and if you set your mobile's SMS settings to "Acknowledge" then you'll know if it went through. You may get a few going through but at least you'll know which numbers are live.
