Iexplore fault....any advice?
This message is driving me crazy and appears often. I can continue to work by moving the message to the side but only a reboot will remove it completely.
Using W98se, PII 300Mhz 198RAM IE6
I have searched Microsofts database with no luck. there seems to be a few free downloads that offer to scan and fis DLL problems but I am reluctant to let the unknown loose on my system.
IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 016f:bff9db61.

I used to get similar messages from time to time with 98SE, and I seem to remember that it was a re-install that cured it..... but I cannot recall whether it was IE or W98 that I had to re-install! Sorry it is not much help, but it was fixable, but it was one of the reasons I moved on to W2000.

Could be a worm virus or something similar as they are anooying little b**tards and like to cock up all your internet connections.
Only a small possibility but well worth running an antivirus and spyware checker and see if it helps.

John,
8 months is a long time for the old Win9x, especially for an upgrade. It might be worth backing up all your data and do a fresh install of Win98SE from the CAB Files.
Take Care,
Richard

Thanks Richard,
I do reg back ups to CD but a complete re install is beyond me. I guess in many ways a complete crash a no recovery gives me a good excuse to buy a new system and I have been promising my wife a laptop...if only things were cheaper!
In the meantime I have re installed IE6 and 4 hrs of stability so time will tell.

John,
A reinstall if Windows is not that bad. The most important thing is to have all the Hardware Drivers downloaded and burned on a CD before you start the fresh Install. That way your install will go really smoothly. It is not much more involved than an upgrade.
Now if you are looking for a new computer with WinXP, you will be very happy too. It is a major improvement over Win9x.

Richard
