windows xp slow boot-up
recently my windows xp has become very slow to boot-up. It takes about 1min 30s. I've checked it for viruses, defragged the disk and tweaked the boot-up parameters as much as i dare using software utilities...all to no avail. Any ideas?

orangetree,
There are two things that could be causing this:

Bad Driver
Bad Hardware
If you have already updated all your drivers, then check your hardware. Older Optical Drives are famous for causing long load times for WinXP. But without any details on your computer's hardware, it is just a stab in the dark.
Take Care,
Richard

Strangely enough I noticed that my PC boots up more slowly as well using XP Home. It appears to have coincided with upgrading from Norton Internet Security 2002 to 2004. I certainly haven't done or added anything else that might cause the problem. The upgrade was somewhere in the region of 50MB.
