beagle virus

My laptop seems to be infected (dont worry, not using my laptop right now) and my home computer is running slow, telling me that I do not have enough virtual memory. Do you think it is also infected? (not at home to check, but want to tell Mrs Head what to do about it). Or is that a different problem maybe? (Windows XP in use, with Virusshield supposedly working fulltime).
Any help appreciated...
