Backgroung Programs
Can nyone help me? I am running a pretty basic PC - 900 Mhz AMD DURON, Win ME, 256MB Ram. I always seem to have a lot of programs running in the background tying up memory. I have disabled some of them at startup using MSCONFIG, but I am aware that I am able to get a free download of a program that allows me to do this rather than use Ctrl-Alt-Del. Does anyone know what it is called and more importantly, where I can obtain it?
Many thanks

Maxflyer,
Check Start >> Programs >> Startup
Pretty much anything in there can be deleted. If it is in that folder, it means that it loads when the computer starts, but it is not critical for using that software. If it were critical, they would have added it to the registry instead of the startup folder to make it load on bootup.
Take Care,
Richard
P.S. A list of programs you have running in the background would give us a chance to look over and tell you which can safely be disabled.
