What is "Vielqsu.exe"
Hi
Had to clean up a collegues PC who was riddled with various virus. As part of the deleting the virus - I am now left with a message
"need vielqsu.exe to run application" when running the email programs.
However - i have searched the other PC's in the office and the web - but I can find no referance to it.
( I am trying to run the email programs and just get a message box showing C: and the message to locate the vielqsu.exe file).
Any ideas out there????
Regards

Hi there. I don't know what it is at all. I have just searched using mamma and also looked on my computer here at home and nothing was found.
Are you sure it is the correct spelling?
Incidently, whilst scanning for this file my anti-virus found this trojan on my system--- Trojan.ByteVerify could be something to do with a virus as you say.
Sorry I am not much help here but I thought you would like to know what I come up with.

Definitely the correct spelling. HAve been typing it into every find/search/go box I could find and still nothing.
Very strange- nothing will now work in relation to applications. Not even Excel or Word!!
Many thanks though.
PS...am using WIN 98 and Office 97 in case this helpss

Sikpupi,
By the sounds of this, you should back his data up and do a fresh install of Win98 from the CABs. Many viruses are destructive and you might find in the end that the OS is trashed and a new install is required.
The problem with vielqsu.exe is that it was deleted and something either in the msconfig or in the registry is calling for that file. Since it is no longer on the computer it is giving you the error.
Run msconfig and see if the file is being called there. If it is, remove the check mark next to it. If it is not there, then do a search in the Registry. When you find it there, delete the DWord and/or Key.
Take Care,
Richard
P.S. I still think a fresh install is the way to go.

I think that this is the best source of information for running processes:
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm
It identifies each program, whether or not it is needed, and how to delete it.
Next to Mike Lins Startup Killer http://www.mlin.net/ it is a lifesaver.....
