Did pilot.pprune.org addresses go?

One of the features of PPRuNe that I thought was nifty was the ability to have [email protected] as an e-mail address.

Had a call today from someone who'd been trying to e-mail me at that address and was getting it bounced back with a "no relays" or similar message.

So I looked around the "home page" and could find no mention. Have the e-mail service gone away, or is a "pay for" service and I failed to pay?

The no relays message normally means that the email client is not configured properly.

For instance if someone switches from Freeserve Dial-up to be BT OpenWorld Broadband but are still using their Freeserve email. If they try to send an email using the freeserve server it will be bounced with a no relay as it is a measure (of sorts) to stop spamming. In this case they would need to switch the outgoing server to mail.btinternet.com for it to work.

If on the other hand they get the email address wrong then an appropriate message should be sent back - like domain or user not found.

Ah! There's cunning - it's pprune.org for the forums and *that* rejects with the "no relays" error message if you try to use it for pilot mail.

[email protected] gets his mail. Thanks - so easy when you know!
